I actually found a mechnaic I like! Came in for tires installed, radio issue, and annual inspection. They fixed everything for a really low price (about $75). I also got a great deal on tires from tirerack.com. And even though the guys were really busy they were nice about my adding on the annual inspection while I was there.

As a woman, I have always *dreaded* having to take my car to any shop for any thing. I even had gotten to the point where I hated taking it in for a simple oil change. Mechanics were not my favorite people--I could never tell when they were being honest and when they were upselling things I didn't need. And then I came here. Not once have I ever been spoken to condescendingly. Not once have I ever been upsold on something that I didn't need. In fact, they've even sent me on my way telling me that what I thought I needed done did not in fact need to be done yet. They explain what is needed. They'll take you into the garage and show you. They actually listen to you and don't make you feel like an idiot. They are HONEST. And super nice too! They also try to get your car in and out the same day. I've taken my car to them since they opened, and it's been rare that they've had to keep my car overnight. They fix the problem, or they tell me that it's something I can live with for a while but to bring it in if it gets worse. One time - out of the many times I've taken my car in - they told me they knew in their gut what the problem was but couldn't replicate it, and they gave me the choice of going ahead and fixing it or waiting (I think it was something with the ignition). I went with their gut. I seriously trust these guys. A great mechanic is like a great hairstylist - you really want to find one and stick with 'em. :)

I have been taking both my cars to Automotive Specialists since I returned to the Austin area. I have found them to be prompt, courteous and trustworthy. The work they have done on both my Miata and my Subaru has always been of the highest quality. I started going to Automotive Specialists since they were recommended by local Miata owners, but they work on any car with the same level of dedication to quality work. The most recent work was a new clutch and new top for my Miata, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

My car started to have some serious engine trouble over the past week, prompting me to scramble to look for a good mechanic. Having a Honda S2000, I wanted to find someone who specializes in Japanese/Honda sports cars. I was pointed to JC Automotive up in Round Rock by the S2000 Club of America, who told me these guys are honest, reliable, and fantastic at their job. They were absolutely right. After taking this car to a few other mechanics, and speaking to plenty of auto aficionados, I was under the impression that my problem was going to be fairly serious (a broken piston, a bent valve?!) as the car was shaking on idle, under performing and check engine light blinking. I took it here one weekday morning to find it very busy (that already says a lot). Dropped it off, and by the afternoon I got a friendly call from Ray. He told me it was a simple problem of replacing the Ignition Coils on my car, a somewhat pricey but simple procedure. However, he let me know the only reason it's pricey is due to the parts, so he recommended I look around for my self, to find them cheaper, while advising me on what brands to avoid. Their knowledge of my particular car was fantastic. After consulting with them a few times over the phone, we decided I could do the job myself. When i went to go pick up my car, they explained their testing procedure, why I needed to change it, and were not pushy at all for having them do it. I paid my inspection fee ($65) and did the job myself after ordering the parts. While I didn't end up using them for this job, I highly respect their professionalism and will definitely use them again for any problems with any of my cars. Highly recommended!

I have been to JC Automotive Specialists probably 4 or 5 times. Being a weekend mechanic they have helped me out of a couple binds. They always have time to help explain things, are incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. I spent time trying different shops but after finding this place no longer take my car anywhere else as I trust them 100%! I love this place!!

First time here and when I mentioned I chose them because of Yelp, the guy was so proud of the rep they've built online. Said it's tough though because everyone has such high expectations when they cam there. Well, I'm just finishing up my first visit, and I can tell you that their ranking is very well deserved. Never, EVER been talked to/treated as respectfully and thoughtfully as I have been here today. Not only were they completely friendly (everyone, including the way the shuttle driver interacted with the other people waiting), but they provided low-cost suggestions for my car repair that they easily could have explained differently and had me spending $$$. Will definitely be coming back for future car repair needs, and would highly recommend JC to anyone in the Round Rock, Georgetown, North Austin area who appreciates fantastic service and smart technicians. Love to see independent businesses doing it right, and they most definitely are. Thanks, guys!

I had a roadtrip from Austin to Vermont I was gearing up for (that I was doing alone) and I had taken my car to a few garages to get estimates on what needed to be done before the big trip. I had estimates ranging from $200-$900. What a difference in parts and labor! I decided todrive 20 miles to have JC Automotive settle everything. I had used them for over 3 years before moving out of town, and knew they'd steer me in the right direction. And that they did and I'm glad I had them work on my car. They have excellent customer service and have a really clean waiting area. There is a TV, super fast wireless internet and about a million magazines to look at. They have coffee available and they will shuttle you pretty much anywhere in the area. They do NOT take appointments here, so everything is first come first serve. That is awesome, BUT be aware that they are one busy place (and that's a good thing!!!). If you have a rattle here, or a rattle there you are needing to have a peak at, definitely check these guys out. Obviously they are awesome, I mean look at all of the great YELP reviews!!!

I trust these guys with my car. They give you options, tell you what is really needed, and more often then not...are lower priced then lamb's, Firestone, and the other places around Round Rock. I've now stopped getting estimates and just go straight to them when I need anything and I know it will be done right and I won't get charged for things I don't need. Well...thought i would edit this review...they've been good in the past but i recently took my car in for major service, timing belt and a bunch of other stuff. They quoted about $2000 for everything and i thought it seemed high so i called the dealer and got a quote for everything JC Automotive was recommending and the dealer was only $1400. Major difference for the same work. I have to say i was disappointed...had the dealer do the work and now i'm kind of suspect of taking my car back. This was 6 months ago and my car is still running perfect at 150,000 miles.

I work as a massage therapist, yoga instructor and formerly as a cook. This means that if you have back problems or need a meal I can help you out. If you need car repairs...I'm almost useless. I can change spark plugs but I'll gripe and I can change a mean windshield wiper after years of practice. My wife first used JC Auto and spoke highly of them. People say their prices are higher but for information I'd take my car there first. My last visit is a classic example. I suffer from near anxiety when it comes to auto repairs. They're expensive, I cannot afford a new used car and I cannot do the work myself. I brought my car in to get it checked out and they said you need so and so ground down so the wheels don't jiggle when you brake. You also need to get new motor mounts. Being broke I asked them if it's necessary or is it near cosmetic. Without skipping a beat the mechanic said that the jiggle is more annoying than anything and it'll brake more smoothly but just bring it in when I've got the time/money. On the other he said he's seen cars lose all of the mounts and when you switch gears in an automatic it'll jerk, but there's no long term damage. Again, he honestly told me to bring it in when I had the time and money. So, I paid $60 for the consult and inspection and saved money that I didn't have to toss on a credit card. I'll get the repairs done slowly, over time, on a budget without the mental anxiety that my car is going to break down at any moment. I'll continue buying and driving used cars for some time to come but JC has helped me get over the lies of other shops that take one look at me and know I've not the first clue about cars. When my wife brings hers in the mechanics often bring her back, show her the issue and explain in English what the part does, why it needs to be changed and whether it needs to be done immediately or not. They're common sense, friendly mechanics with a good work ethic.
