I had a check engine light come on on my 2016 mini Cooper. I called auto spec and asked them if they worked on mini coopers and they said yes we do. I had put my scanner on the car and diagnose the fault as an EAC sensor myself. When I went back up to talk to them about the car, they told me everything that I already knew that The EAC sensor was bad and would have to be replaced. But then they told me that I should take it to a mini Cooper dealer that they couldn’t do it and they were deciding now that they were no longer gonna work on mini Cooper’s. when they told me that I figured well that’s fine. I guess I’ll have to take it to the mini Cooper dealership but then they charge me $130 to do a sensor test on the car and read the fault error which I had already done. I understand that they’re a business and they have to charge for their time but I just thought considering the situation $130 was just a little excessive to do a sensor test.
Mark, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry if you had a bad experience. We do work on Mini Coopers. However, on most any vehicles there are certain things that are proprietary to the dealers. We will always do a complete diagnosis, even if the customer or parts house puts a scanner on the vehicle. We will never string our customers along by working on things we know that it would be better to take the car to the dealer for the repair. If the technician feels this was something we could have done in house, we would have taken care of it. As with any business, we do have to pay the technician to diagnose the problems, no different than at a Doctor's office. We are very fair in our pricing and I dare say we are one of the most reasonable and honest shops in town.
