Corky Matney -- Co-Owner & Founder

As the original proprietor, Corky opened Japanese Specialist in downtown Austin over 15 years ago. Relocating to Round Rock in 2000, Corky  brought John in as a partner 6 years ago and the business has boomed ever since. With Automotive Specialist now in good hands, Corky spends most of his time running his other operation,  Green Island Car Wash & Detail on 183 in Austin.

Jonathan Samford--Service Writer in Round Rock

Jonathan is our newest service writer at our Round Rock Location.  He received his degree in Automotive Technology from St. Phillips University in San Antonio.  He worked for several years at Hewlitt as a Technician and then moved to California to build Custom Chassis and worked in Stereo Shop Management.  Jonathan and his wife just had their first child.

Ray Hrouda--Service Writer in Round Rock

Ray is our newest Service Writer at our Round Rock Shop, but not new to our shop.  After having spent over 17 years as a Technician he decided to put his knowledge "under the hood" to work at the front desk.  He is currently ASE Certified in Brakes and loves all phases of automotive repair and is enjoying being on the front end of the Automotive Repair Business. 

Brent Davison--Service Writer in Georgetown

Brent joined Automotive Specialist in 2008 as a Service Writer at our Georgetown Location.  Brent is an Automotive Electronics Specialist, with a 12 year background in the mobile electronics industry, show cars, and custom car audio.  He is M.E.C.P. (Mobile Electronics Certification Program) certified and owned his own car audio shop for four years until he was hired by Alpine Electronics in Los Angeles, CA to fabricate custom concept cars for two years.  Brent and his wife Heather have moved back home to Texas to start a family and just had their first child, a son, in September.

Leonard Booth--Service Writer in Georgetown

Leonard is our newest Service Writer and we are very happy to have him at our Georgetown location.  He comes to us with over 15 years of Service Writing experience.  He grew up in  San Antonio and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.  He lives in Georgetown with his wife of 35 years and has 2 step-sons who are both involved with the automotive industry.  In his spare time he restores classic cars and is a Certified Instructor for the NRA. 

Vernon Henneman--Technician

Our veteran technician at our Round Rock Location, Vern has been with  Automotive Specialist since John took over the shop space in 2005. With 25 years professional experience, Vern is our master tech for virtually all japanese models.

Ernie Miller -- Technician

Ernie was at Christian Brothers for over 5 years and ran his own shop for 7 years before that. Married for 24 years, he built and flies his own airplane. We are proud to have him.  Ernie is our Lead Technician at our Round Rock loaction and is a "customers favorite" technician. 

Brian Litson--Technician

Brian comes to our Round Rock location after having spent the last 2 years at our Georgetown Location.  He has over 24 years of Automotive Repair experience.  He has worked on pretty much every make and model of vehicle out there.  Brian has lived in the Central Texas area most of his life and when not at work,  he is busy spending time with his son.

Daniel Fuessel--Technician

Daniel is our newest Technician at our Round Rock Shop.  He comes to us with 16 years of experience in Automotive Repair.  He is an ASE Master Certified in all 8 areas and a Mazda Master.  He enjoys riding mountain bikes, backpacking and kayaking in his spare time.  He and is wife live in Cedar Park.  

Cody Ivins -- Jr. Technician

Cody is our newest Jr. Technician at our Round Rock Shop.  He performs Oil Changes, Tires and State Inspections.

Darryl Coleman--Technician

Darryl is a Master Mechanic and heads up our Georgetown Location. With over 25 years of experience working on cars he has worked all makes and models of vehicles.  He is Master Certified ASE Technician.  He keeps the Georgetown Shop "rocking" with the best music! Darryl and his wife live in Round Rock and in his spare time he likes to play volleyball and paintball. 

Jacob Baird--Technician

Jacob spent the first 2 years with Automotive Specialist at the Round Rock Shop and he has recently moved to the Georgetown Shop.  He performs State Inpections, Oil Changes and Tire Services and he is currently training to become a full service technician and has shown us a great amount of potential.

Melvin Stravoski -- Jr. Technician

 Melvin  is another one or our newest Jr. Technicians at our Georgetown Shop.  Melvin just completed his service with the Armed Forces protecting our Country.  He performs Oil Changes, Tires and State Inspections.  We are proud to have him as part of our team.

Clarence Roberts -- Shuttle Driver

Clarence is our Shuttle Driver at our Georgetown Shop.  His friendly personality and superb driving skills will get you back to your home or work after you drop off your vehicle for service.

Dennis Hedges -- CFO

Dennis is John Long's Father in Law.  He retired from IBM in 1997 and went to work in the pro shop at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, mostly for the free golf. With over 18 years of management and finance experience, he makes sure the shop runs in the black and John doesn't do everything for free.

Jeanette Long--Customer Service  in Round Rock

Jeanette (John Long's much younger sister) joined Automotive Specialist in 2008.  She serves as John's Assistant and general customer service, maintaining the website, running the shuttle service and mainly does whatever John tells her to do.  When not working you can find her at the baseball fields with her son.
